When I was trapped on the power and control side of our world reality, I saw myself more as an atheist trapped in the battle of god's existence. Then I found my other face and turned to face the future. Looking back at my old world, where I was trapped in the past, I realized that atheists serve the same man made-god they are fighting against. By attacking the man-made god, they focus attention on it and give it a bigger presence, making it more real.
The question isn't "god" - that's just a word people use to describe the unknowable. To say there is no god becomes a catch 22, because words are used to describe things and once you use the word that represents something, it exists, even if it is just in theory. I think a better way to overcome this mindless possession by the unknowable is to get people to try to describe their god for you, and then say whatever that description brings to your mind! I think most people use god as a way to posture knowledge without having knowledge. People use god as an explanation even though they have no explanation for, and only a vague description of god!
